OK today I received an email that really upset me...As you know we are a "Homeschooling Family"...and as a Homeschooling Mother lets just say I have opinions....My opinion is it is not the governments: FEDERAL or STATE'S job to educate our children...If you choose to have children it is your job as a parent to make sure your child is educated. If you choose to put your child in a private school or public school so be it. If you choose to "homeschool" your child SO BE IT!!! When did our country start to believe that it is the governments job to teach our children? And who is the government? Supposedly we elect who we want...the problem with that is we get lied to, so we never really know who we elected(well at least I don't)ho do you elect... OK so I am going on a rabbit trail...
I would like to make this clear once and for all. I love that we have public schools....I love that we have the choice to put our children in public schools...I know incredible people who are teachers and students in public schools...There is a place for public schools, private schools, and home schools in our country...We should have the choice and not feel like we need to defend it in the United States of America...I love my country and I thank my country for my freedom and I am in debt to the soldiers that fought and fight for my freedom!!! So let us have our FREEDOM when it comes to how we educate our children...Again another rabbit trail!!!
My problem is when you have the government determining what should be taught to your child, you don't have a say at all in what is being taught, your child being tested whenever "they" feel "they" need to test, AND you pay for it....IT doesn't seem like a Democracy!!! Does it to you? By the way who is "THEY"?
Teachers my hats are off to you, because you care about the children...You are very much needed in society!!! I agree that you don't get paid enough for your job, but it is not the "homeschoolers" fault, try asking your government what they are doing with the tax payers money...YOUR money as well as mine!!!! Sorry again another rabbit trail!!! Back to my thoughts...
When school first got started it was the parents that worked together to make sure that THEIR children were educated...It worked!!! Why is "homeschooling" under attack...I do not understand...If you do please tell me!!!
With that being said, I must also say...I know that whatever happens it is according to HIS purpose...I will trust in the Lord always, and that means my friends even when I do not understand...I will rejoice in the Lord always, because I love Him so!!!
Here is part of the email that was sent to me...that upset me so much to write about it...However I must thank Representative Danna Boe for having the courage to listen to the People's opinions of which she is representing, whether she truly listens or not the Lord only knows....
Dear HSLDA Members and Friends:
We have been receiving calls from Idaho members who have been
contacted by Representative Donna Boe. Rep. Boe told these members
that she is planning to introduce a bill in the Idaho Legislature to
require homeschools to be registered and be annually tested.
She told these members that according to the Idaho Constitution, it is
the state's responsibility to educate the children. She indicated that
she wants to know what homeschoolers think about this proposal.
To help her, homeschoolers may want to email her through the Idaho
legislature website at http://www.hslda.org/elink.
her at (208) 332 1038 and let her know whether you would support this
proposed bill. You may want to briefly share with her the benefits of
your homeschooling and your thankfulness for the current freedom you
have to teach your children in Idaho.
Thank you,
Chris Klicka
HSLDA Senior Counsel
I plead with you all to let her know how you feel...It is our right and our duty as Americans...
Well I will write again soon with a bit more of uplifting news! I just needed my thoughts out about this subject, and guess what you all got to hear about it...I am usually not so bold about my opinions, but like I said I am a Homeschooling parent and most of us have a pretty strong opinion on the subject....
Bye for now-Brownies
